C-Band

• 4 to 6 GHz -- normally downlink 3.7–4.2 GHz, uplink 5.9–6.4 GHz.
• Most C band satellites use linear polarization, while  older Intelsat satellites use circular polarization. 

Ka-band versus Ku-band 

• Ka frequencies roughly ranges from 18 to 40 GHz. (~30GHz uplink & ~20GHz downlink) 
• Ku frequencies roughly ranges from 12 to 18 GHz.  (~14GHz uplink and ~12GHz downlink). 
• A typical Ku-band rain fade rate is approximately 1dB/sec while the fade rate in Ka-band is significantly higher at around 3-5dB/sec.
